Fur Felt
The main factor in the quality of fur felt is the selection and the tighness of the fibres in the felt. .
Akubra Hats do not use the XXX rating system for their felt as different companies use this to differing effect. Akubra make two grades of felt, then within these grades there is some variation to thickness and finish, but the quality of the felt is never compromised.

Leather Sweatbands
Akubra Hats use two types of sweat band - fine leather from sheepskin and a fabric band in the crushable hats. Both have excellent qualities for distributing sweat and making the hat comfortable. The leather sweatband has a fine wire interted into the base assisting the hat to conform to your head shape and assist with proper gripping in windy conditions.
Hat sizeWe have been selling hats via mail order for 16 years. Please take the time to measure your head and use the advice from this site, not the conversion charts from other sites. We have a 99% success rate with sizing when customers use our advice. All our hats are checked in our workshop for correct fit, they are steamedand brushed to take out pressure marks which often occur during transit from the factory.
