Is the Federation hat a replica of The Indiana Jones Hat?

No. We do not make any claim as such and leave that judgement to others. We understand there are a number of minor differences including the felt used, the shade, the ribbon quality and other refinements. As many of our hats are sold to Indiana Jones fans we are of course sensitive to requests they make regarding the specifications of the hat. The hat is made for Hatsdirect by Akubra Hats to our specifications and is not available through other outlets.

This is the case for other exclusive styles we offer.

Do you custom style hats?

Yes and no. We custom style hats only when we have the customer in our store and we can see the face shape and other factors which may lead us in one direction or another. We do not custom shape hats for mail order. For custom shaped hats we recommend Steve Delk from www.adventurebilthats.com. Steve does a fantastic job and can take the time discussing your needs to produce the hat you want.

When can I expect my hat to ship?

Same or next day Monday to Friday. Orders arriving over the weekend leave Mondays. We are available 7 days a week, 9 - 5 Australian Eastern Standard time. Airmail is efficient (5 - 7 days) to most countries, particularly USA and the UK. Other countries vary and are usually slowed by that countries customs clearance system. Federation IV hats are due to ship early to mid April. Naturally back orders will be shipped first.

Why does the price change in my currency?

We sell hats in Australian dollars. We do not alter the price. The price fluctuates because the other currencies may increase or decrease in value reltive to the $Au. This could make the hat more or less in your currency - we have no way to control this.

I have heard the color can vary from hat to hat?

There can be a little variation from batch to batch but the variation is very marginal. Colors pictured on various forums often have little to do with reality and the variations seen are more to do with cameras and the photographer. We simply do not ship substandard hats.

What size should I order?

The Federation is blocked with virtually no taper. The Federation IV is smaller than the previous model. We have specific instructions here. Customers who follow our instructions rarely have problems.

We check all hats prior to shipping. No hat is sent out via mail order unless it is measuring true. Hats which are not measuring true do happen, we sell these in our shop where we can match a hat to a head size more accurately. We often can assist a customer with a more precise fitting if requested, or adjust a hat a little if required.

I have contacted you and have not had a response, do you get too busy to respond?

We operate 7 days a week and all e-mails are answered the same day or within 24 hours. Even if we cannot assist we will answer you. Please check your spam settings and personal mailbox storage allowances. We have trouble with AOL in particular because of the way spam issues are resolved.
